How do I use Recap from the lock screen?
Quick answer
While a recording runs, the lock screen and Dynamic Island show the timer and Pause, Highlight, Photo and Stop. They work without unlocking.
What you see
- Start a recording, then lock the phone.
- The lock screen shows the status, the timer, and your highlight and photo counts.
- The Dynamic Island shows the status and the timer. Press and hold it for the buttons.
The buttons
- Pause / Resume — the timer stops while paused. Nothing is recorded.
- Highlight — marks this part of the conversation. It leads the notes.
- Photo — opens the camera over the lock screen. The photo goes into the recording.
- Stop — saves. The recording’s page is there when you unlock.
Photo from the lock screen
- Allow the camera once in Recap. Recap asks when you start a recording.
- The phone has a passcode: the camera opens over the lock screen. Lock again when done.
- No passcode, or unlocked: Recap opens with its camera.
- Recap Photo control: add it to the lock screen or Control Center for the same camera.
Don’t see it?
- Settings › Recap › Live Activities must be on.
- First time: tap Allow when iOS asks to allow Live Activities from Recap.
