How do I use Spelling Test with my child's spelling list?
Quick answer
Tap Spelling Test, then New list. Type the words, or tap Take a picture or Photo to read them off the sheet. Save the list, tap it, and your child hears each word and spells it.
Make a list
- Tap Spelling Test, then New list.
- List name: it starts as “Week of” and today’s date. Change it if you like.
- Type or paste the words under Words, one per line.
- Or read them off the sheet:
- Take a picture uses the camera.
- Photo picks a photo you already have.
- Check the words. The count and the words show under the box. Fix any mistakes.
- Tap Save list.
Take the test
- Tap the list under Spelling lists.
- Tap Listen. The phone says the word three times, nice and slow.
- Hear it again repeats it.
- Tap or swipe the letters to spell it. Undo takes one back.
- Tap Check.
Points
- First try: 10 points.
- Second try: 5 points.
- A miss: Not quite. The word shows, then comes back later in the test.
- After 3 tries it counts as missed.
The results
- Results show First try, Second try and To practice.
- Missed words come first the next time this player takes that list.
- The list shows the last score under its name.
Change or delete a list
- Tap the pencil on a list to edit it.
- Delete list, then Yes, delete. The words go away. Scores stay with the player.
