Can I use Apple Watch, the widget, or share into Team Assist?

Quick answer

The Apple Watch app is a Run Playbook remote (switched on in Labs), the widget shows today’s sessions, and the share extension imports a parent’s contact card.

Three small features, each worth a paragraph rather than a page.

Apple Watch

The Watch app is a Run Playbook remote: while a session is running on your iPhone, your watch shows the timer, the current block, and what’s next, and gives you buttons to start or pause the timer, move between blocks, and end the run. It’s a remote control for the phone rather than a standalone app — your iPhone needs to be nearby with the session running, and the watch shows “Waiting for iPhone” until it is.

It’s an optional feature: turn on Apple Watch Remote in Tools → Labs on the iPhone, and install the app on your watch from the Watch app’s app list as usual.

Home Screen widget

The Today’s Sessions widget shows today’s Team Assist sessions at a glance, in your team colour. The small size shows your next session’s time, title, and location; the medium size lists up to three sessions; the large size lists them all. It updates itself about every half hour, and tapping it opens the schedule. On a day with nothing planned it says “No Sessions Today”. There’s nothing to configure — you add it from the Home Screen widget gallery like any other widget.

Sharing into Team Assist

The share extension is for one specific job: getting a parent’s details in without retyping them. Share a contact card — from the Contacts app, choose Share Contact, then Team Assist — and the app opens with that contact’s name, phone numbers, and email addresses ready to use when adding an athlete. It accepts contact cards only; it isn’t a general inbox for photos or files.
