How do I change voices, AI and storage?

Settings sets what matters to you, which AI writes your notes, iCloud sync, the voices, and auto-delete after 30 days.
What matters to me
- Type what you care about — for example “Decisions, owners, dates.”
- Every summary and newscast puts this first.
AI
- Writes your notes — Apple Intelligence, Claude or ChatGPT.
- Apple Intelligence runs on your device, free. Nothing leaves it.
- Claude or ChatGPT writes fuller notes. Paste your own API key, then Save.
- With Claude or ChatGPT, your transcript is sent to that company. They bill your account.
- Your key stays in this device’s Keychain.
Sync with iCloud
- On: recordings, notes, photos and podcasts appear on every device on your Apple Account.
Voices
- Natural voices — tap Download natural voices (327 MB) once. Use Wi-Fi.
- Use natural voices — then pick the Anchor, Host and Guest.
- Interview voices — Apple voices for Host and Guest.
- Get better voices — steps to download Zoe and Evan, two free Apple voices.
- Newscast voice — the Anchor reads the newscast and Daily Recap.
- New voice? Tap Again on a recording to hear it.
Storage
- Delete recordings after 30 days — off unless you turn it on.
- Keep forever recordings are never deleted.
- Mac: Recordings folder › Choose… to save in a folder other apps can read. Use the default to undo.
